No Poo is alternate methods of washing hair without commercial shampoo.
No Poo Method(s)[]
Baking Soda[]
A fairly harsh washing alternative, some find it too damaging for their hair or use in cycle with other No Poo washing methods.
Apple Cider Vinegar[]
Diluted apple cider vinegar is often used after a baking soda wash. It moisturizes the hair as it cleanses which can be referred to as a "clarifying rinse".
Egg Wash[]
A high protein wash, on wet or dry hair and be sure to rinse well. For Normal Hair the whole egg can be used, Oily Hair the whites and yolks for Dry Hair.
Apply and massage into the scalp, leave in for approximately 20 mins and rinse with cool/cold water. It does have an odour so you may want to add something to counter.

- Essential Oils (optional)
- 1 Tsp Honey (optional)
- 1 Tsp Aloe (optional)
- 1 Tsp Olive Oil (optional)
As an option add essential oils with the egg mix to cut down the egg smell. Be aware that eggs wash can lead to a protein build up in the hair, so you may want to alternate with other wash methods.
DIY "No Poo" Dry Shampoo[]
Combine in a bowl or glass jar (for reuse) and apply with a makeup brush (like a powder brush). Then brush out with a Boar Bristle Brush.

- Cocoa Powder (optional, as a part of the recipe about 1:2-1:3 ratio)
Water Only Washing[]
A method a warm water (and nothing else) washing of the hair.
Other Steps when going No Poo[]
Scritching and Preening[]
- Scritching is the massaging of the scalp to stimulate the sebum glads to produce your scalps natural oils with hands and fingers.
- Preening is the pulling of the oils down your hair shaft with hands and fingers.
Brushing with Boar Bristle Brush[]
Boar Bristle Brushes helps with oil pulling on hair. It is recommended to brush before washing or before bed.
Sleeping with hair up[]
It is better for your hair to be up in a loose bun or braid or even a sleeping bonnet, wrap or other covering— when sleeping.
