It’s like you’re Photoshopped!” compliments. Regular TBF readers know how much I love shapewear, so when I heard of a new line of, uh, “packaging” from Jockey, and personally curated by style maverick Rachel Zoe, I knew I had to see for myself how the product stacks up against the tight (couldn’t resist, sorry) competition. Check out the review after the jump.

A review of Rachel Zoe’s “Major must haves” for jockey

The Deets: Jockey partnered with Zoe for the “Major Must Haves” line, which consist of fashion-forward intimates and comfortable shapewear. Rachel lends to the collection her renowned fashion aesthetic and veteran experience in seamlessly merging comfort and chic. I know many of you are thinking, “What the H-E-L-L does Rachel Zoe know about shapewear?” Well, Zoe did just have a baby, and as anyone who has had a baby can tell you, ALL new moms need a bit of extra help in the tummy-control department afterward. Even skinny Hollywood fashion stylists. Plus, most of those amazing fashionistas you see working the runway (yeah, you, Heidi Klum and Tyra Banks) wear shapewear.

The Review: First, the intimates…There are two distinct lines, which together offer a wide range of styles, including bikinis, thongs, hipsters, boyshorts and tanks. Made from microfiber modal, nylon and spandex, with detailing (such as a touch of lace), I love that the line is both STYLISH and COMFORTABLE (the holy grail of fashion). Then, of course, there’s the shapewear…It’s well established that I’m a shapewear connoisseur, a purveyor of body packaging. There’s nothing I like more than comfortable, affordable undergarments that keep everything pointed in the right direction. One of the things you should look for in shapewear is that it should be made of fabric with a high cotton content; my advice is that the fabric should be at least 75% cotton. Why? Well, let’s keep it 100% real: you need absorbent fabrics that breathe to help promote health in your nether regions. Shapewear that has a high percentage of manmade fibers, like nylon, retain moisture and thus can lead to a very uncomfortable situation down there. Jockey’s new shapewear line is made of 84% cotton, which is well within the comfort and health zone.

For the ultimate test drive, I took these pieces to the mall. I wore the Tummy Short and the Strappy Tank for a day at the Woodbury outlet mall with my mom, who is an O.G. when it comes to shapewear. While shopping in the Gap Outlet store, she immediately noticed that my midsection was more “contained” and asked if I was wearing a default shapewear brand. I informed her that no, I wasn’t wearing a brand that rhymes with “Lanks” but pieces from a new line by Jockey. In a period of realness that only a mom can inspire, she made me pull down my pants (in the fitting room) to inspect what I now call “The Jockey Effect,” and she ended up giving me her Mom Shapewear Seal of Approval.

As the day went on at one of the largest outlet malls in the world, I started to appreciate my “Major Must Haves” even more. Nothing tests the limits of anything–shoes, sanity, marriages, friendships, and yes, undergarments–than a Saturday at an outlet mall. The patented three-panel design of the tank offered a slimming look without cutting off my circulation and messing up my shopping game. The soft cotton spandex made a lot of difference: it’s almost too easy to forget that I was wearing waist-cinchers underneath, and the fabric even absorbed any post-shopping sweat. The one thing that Jockey needs to work on is the binding around the thighs on the Tummy Short. Toward the end of the day, I started to get dents in my thighs from where the leg of the short ended. This could definitely be a problem when wearing tight garments.

The verdict: The line lives up to its name. Plus, with prices from $10.50 a piece for undies (or $27 for bundles of three) and under $60 for shapewear, prices are competitive with lines from other brands. Rachel Zoe’s “Major Must Haves” from Jockey® are now available in major retailers, Jockey outlet stores, and on Jockey.com.

Tell me about a time you wish you’d been wearing shapewear in the comments below.

And, if you want chances to win $100 Jockey gift cards, visit the Jockey brand page on BlogHer.com, where you can read other bloggers’ reviews and find chances to win!

This post was part of a paid series of sponsored posts from Jockey and BlogHer.
