That means a product\u2019s safety may expire long before the expiration date if the product has not been properly stored. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cosmetics that have been improperly stored may deteriorate substantially before the expiration date. Examples of improper storage: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>exposed to high temperatures<\/li><li>exposed to sunlight<\/li><li>opened and examined by consumers prior to final sale<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>On the other hand, products stored under ideal conditions may be acceptable long after the expiration date has been reached.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Make up expiration dates<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Foundation expiration<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Sorry, girls. Your foundation will only last three to six months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Concealer expiration <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Wand applicator concealers should be tossed within six months since they\u2019re likely to grow bacteria. That keeps you from re-infecting yourself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Lip gloss and lipstick<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Sadly, your lip products should only stick around for one year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Mascara<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>You should always replace mascara after three months. Or, immediately if it becomes dry, or you develop an eye infection. Don&#8217;t ever<br>share mascara.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Eye and lip pencils<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If you sharpen your makeup pencils every few days, they can last a year or longer. It\u2019s time to trash them when they become dry, crumbly, and hard to apply.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">All-natural cosmetics <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Because these products do not contain preservatives, they should be used or discarded within six months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">More makeup preservation tips<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Don\u2019t ever share cosmetics.<\/li><li>Don\u2019t put your fingers into the product. Use the applicator provided, or a makeup sponge.<\/li><li>Keep containers tightly closed. Store them in a cool, dry place.<\/li><li>Don\u2019t use water or saliva to ease the application of a product.
