Smaller names can offer great merchandise at great prices, very useful if you’re buying to wear rather than buying to sell eBay.

I think the term sample sale is sometimes misused.  I am a “veteran” (lol) of the Kate Spade sample sale in NY and I’ve found great merchandise for great prices- a lot less than what you would get at her outlet stores or a run of the mill sale at a dept store, etc.  I’ve also gotten great merchandise at Bluefly’s sample sales, Billion Dollar Babes and others. A Rebecca Taylor silk blouse for $50 anyone?  And I’m certainly not a “sample” size either lol. I think it depends on the designer or whomever is organizing the sale.

Many “sample sales” are just a missused term to clear out unwanted merchandise and/or seconds-
On the flip side, after attending sample sales for 15+ years, I have found many one of a kind items often at prices well below wholesale, sometimes even below cost—( prices you’ll never see at your favorite retail stores…)
As you know, at various times during the year, there can be dozens of sales on at a time——all around NYC—(garment center, uptown, downtown, etc.) featuring designer clothing, shoes, jewerly, etc.It really can be a great way to shop….
Many lines have sample AND stock sizes available
(which is great since i’m not the “sample” size
I used to be..)

I understand the problems with “sample” sales.  To counteract, my sister and I have formed Follow Fashion, Inc. We offer clothes that are in store at 30-70% off.  Our next event is April 28-29, 2007 in Georgetown, Washington, DC.  Please visit our website for more information:  http://www.followfashioninc.com We would love to have you visit us.  Thanks and Happy Shopping!
