During the time of Forth and Towne, I wasn’t old enough to have money to buy clothes. It’s hard to find quality these days. The only reason I know Forth and Towne and I. Magnin is because of vintage & thrift stores. I like articles like these on the history of closed stores, if you get the spare time, please do an article on I. Magnin.

Great jacket. In retrospect, I wish I wouls have grabbed the shift I was on the fence on. Oddly, the Fourth and Towne in SF was in a great location: a flagship mall with Bloomies and Norstroms. It was always busy. Too bad. I find it really difficult to find polished and stylish clothing. Especially at a size 18 and age 33.

I still have clothes from them. I refuse to get rid of them because they were so beautifully made and fabulous. It was wholly short sighted on Gap’s part to get rid of the brand.

I always get compliments on my clothes and accessories I wear from Forth & Towne. I really wished it never went away and that there was a better marketing campaign behind it and not just the one about it closing.
Please let me know if there is another brand out there or coming out that can compare.

It became my new go-to store and needless to say the closing of Forth & Towne DID NOT make me return to The Gap. I found Forth & Towne to be a bit hipper than Talbot’s (which has had a nice revamp as of late) but classier than The Gap’s products. BOOHOO to them for closing a store that was definitely building a brand and a loyal following.
